TruAge™ measures what your body is doing, not what it can do.
Because TruAge™ measures epigenetics (changes above the genome), it provides more information than a typical DNA test. This test won’t help with ancestry, but it will help tell you what your body is actually doing and what that means. Traditional genetic tests like ancestry.com and 23andMe tell you your DNA sequence. Unlike other tests which use saliva or urine, TruAge™ uses blood. While we know that saliva or urine is easier to collect, those methods don’t have the scientific background supporting their use. TruDiagnostic™ orders typically ship UPS Ground within 3-5 business days from the time of purchase. When your order ships, you will receive an email with your tracking number. Depending on the carrier, it can take 24-48 hours for your tracking information to update on the carrier’s site.

Yes, we now have dropship as an option for physicians who order TruAge™. You no longer have to have patients come into the office to take the test, you as the physician are able to ship to multiple addresses when you order our kits.

When purchasing through the TruDiagnostic™ online store, it is important to remember that only one payment source can be used per order; the entire amount of your purchase must be covered by a single card or PayPal account. After an order is placed, it is not possible to update order details such as the number of kits or the shipping information; if your order has not yet been fulfilled, you can cancel your order.

TruDiagnostic™ kits are fully refundable prior to shipment. If you would like a refund on an unused kit, due to the nature of our product, you must notify us within thirty (30) days of placing your order. We will send you a return label to send the kit back to us. Your refund, minus a restocking fee of $49, will be processed once you drop your kit in the mail. No refunds will be issued after you have sent in your blood sample and our lab begins processing your kit.
The test TruDiagnostic™ provides is not a medical epigenetic test, and is not covered by insurance. Our goal is to provide you with an overview of your epigenetics through personalized reports. You and your physician may find the information we provide helpful when looked at together with your personal and family health history. However, our test is not a diagnostic tool and should not be submitted to your health insurance for reimbursement.
If you believe you have a medical need for epigenetic testing, please talk to your healthcare provider about epigenetic testing for medical purposes. Medical epigenetic tests may be covered by insurance, depending on your insurance policy, and indication for testing.
How It Works
To get started with the TruDiagnostic™ Personal Epigenetic Service, navigate to our online store. Only one collection kit is needed per person regardless of the service purchased.
Once you have received your blood collection kit, you will need to register the collection tube’s barcode. This is how we will identify that the blood sample in that collection tube belongs to you!
Unregistered kits that have been received at the lab will not begin processing until the kit is registered to an account. Be sure to provide your sample following the detailed instructions included in your blood collection kit, then mail your kit back to us in the prepaid packaging you received with your order.
After our laboratory receives your sample, your results will be available in your online account in approximately 2-3 weeks, but please keep in mind that processing times may vary. You can track your sample’s progress on your profile homepage.
For such a powerful product, the TruDiagnostic™ Personal Epigenetic Service process is fairly simple: order, provide your blood sample, and see your data. But between you putting your sample in the mail and us alerting you that your data is ready, there’s actually quite a bit that goes on at our laboratory. Step 1: The Visual Exam
Samples arrive at our lab every day. The first thing technicians do with each new sample is scan the barcode on it, because, for privacy reasons, that’s the only identifying information the laboratory has.
As soon as a sample has been scanned, it undergoes its first test — a visual inspection to make sure it contains fluid up to the “fill line” on the side of the tube. Occasionally a sample will not pass this step, either because it leaked in transit. If a sample tube doesn’t contain enough liquid we immediately contact the customer and ship a replacement kit so he or she can provide a blood sample again.
Step 2: DNA Extraction
If a sample passes the visual inspection, it is time for DNA extraction. The process our laboratory uses to isolate and purify the DNA in your blood is simply an automated version of the same one you can do at home. Once the DNA is extracted from the sample, the concentration is measured to make sure there is enough for the actual analysis process on the chip.
If the first attempt at DNA extraction does not yield satisfactory results, a second attempt is made with some blood that was set aside before the process was started. If this second try fails, we contact the customer and send a free replacement kit so he or she can provide a blood sample again. The hope is that this second sample will be DNA-rich and ready to go!
The most common cause of low DNA is that the preservative solution is not fully released into the tube. If a customer is sent a replacement kit, and two tries on the new blood sample still does not yield enough DNA, then unfortunately the customer probably won’t be able to use our service and a refund for the kit fee minus shipping and handling is provided. Luckily, this is a very rare occurrence.
Step 3: Evaluating your Biological Age
Samples that yield sufficient quantities of DNA are submitted for Infinium HD Methylation on our custom chip. This process is performed in batches of 96 samples. We monitor the process to make sure it is going as expected. If a particular sample fails to give information for at least 98.5% of the markers we test for, we go back to the blood sample that was set aside in the extraction step and try again. If a second attempt at measuring methylation fails, we ship a free replacement kit to the customer so he or she can send their sample again.
Step 4: Data Return
Once a sample has been successfully analyzed, the laboratory sends the resulting data to TruDiagnostic™ along with the barcode that came with the sample. This allows us to return the information to the proper account and begin interpreting your data.
We do not share individual-level epigenetic data or survey responses with third parties without asking for and receiving your explicit permission to do so, except as required by law. If you have given consent for us to do so, we may include your epigenetic data and survey responses, stripped of your name or other contact information, in aggregate data that we publish in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Aggregate data is data from multiple users that has been combined to minimize the possibility of exposing individual-level information. Regardless of your consent status, we may also include your data in aggregate data that we disclose to third-party research partners who will not publish that information in a scientific journal.
